Reflection: Makes Experience a Great Teacher

When I was in college, our instructor in Psychology 111 asked us if "Experiences are really the best teacher." Of course we all answered "YES" in unison. To my surprise, our instructor disagree with us. According to him, experience can be a great teacher once there is a reflection. In this article, I will explain farther as to why reflection made our experiences as the best teacher.

Our experiences can be the best teacher once we reflect on it. Through reflection, it will gives us the deeper wisdom that we need in order to go on in life.



Life is a continuous journey of learning, and our experiences serve as invaluable teachers along the way. Many people would say that there experiences taught them lessons. In this manner, they are unaware that they are reflecting on these experiences that enables them to extract those learnings from it. It is through the profound practice of reflection that we truly harness the transformative power of those experiences. Additionally, reflection gives us a deeper understanding of our experiences. When we take the time to reflect, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and wisdom.

From the moment we realized that we're alive, our experiences is one of the factors that contribute to what kind of person we are in the future.



Experience alone is not enough to provide us with meaningful lessons. It is through reflection that we are able to extract the wisdom embedded within those experiences. Reflection is the art of thinking, the deliberate act of looking back at our experiences, thoughts, actions, emotions, and seeking to understand their true significance. Reflection made me identify on what aspect of myself that I need to improve. As a result, it helps my personal and professional life meaningful.

By examining our emotional responses to various situations, we gain insight into the root causes behind our reactions. With this understanding, we can exercise greater emotional intelligence, making conscious choices about how we respond to challenges and engage with others. Reflection gives me a better understanding on how to deal and interact well not only to every situations but to people around me.

To incorporate reflection into our lives, we must create dedicated time and space for this practice. Sometimes, in oder to have a deeper understanding of our experiences, we need to have an alone time. A time where we can think and reflect.
